Gamers gear up for a new course at the University of Tasmania

Interested in games development? A Games Technology major is now on offer at the School of Computing and Information Systems.

If you just haven’t found the course that’s right for you, and love your computer games, consider this one. You can now get a degree playing games, thinking critically about them and choose to either focus on programming and graphics or the critiquing of games - who said you can’t mix work and pleasure!

In the first year will to focus on the development of 2D games and in the second year the design element of 3D graphics. The focus of each unit is to produce finished works that can be shown when applying for work, which is important when applying for work in the animation and games industry.

The course is a three year degree based in either Hobart or Launceston and there are further study options available in an Honours program, Masters or PhD.
